“Every wound has a story to tell is we are willing to lift the stone and listen.”
“Writing can be described as an act of excavation…”
Madisyn Taylor and Yvonne Puig

My stone begins with fear. It is the fear of disappointing my mother, of not pleasing her, of not making her smile. Her smile is like that of the Chesire Cat in Alice, and I am Alice. The rabbit hole is where I live, and the Chesire Cat’s smile takes on many forms. Most days it does not appear. Perhaps it was there when I was a baby or a toddler, but when my memories take hold, there is no smile. Only the cat. And, a very astute one, too.
